August, a good month for agricultural employmen
The affiliation closes August with 703,650 members, which represents a decrease of 1.58% compared to the same month of 2018 and 3.45% in monthly rate.
The number of unemployed in the agricultural sector stood at 142,844 people at the end of last August, which represents a decrease of 3.92% (5,825 fewer unemployed) compared to the same month of 2018, and -4.45% (6,655 less unemployed) in monthly rate.
According to data published today by the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security with data from the offices of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), this figure of agricultural unemployment is the lowest for a month of August since 2015.
All the autonomous communities recorded a decrease in agricultural unemployment in August 2019, compared to the previous month, with the exception of Cantabria, Extremadura, Murcia, the Basque Country and the autonomous city of Ceuta. Extremadura was the region where the number of unemployed in agriculture and livestock (352 unemployed more) grew, followed by Murcia (344). On the contrary, in Andalusia it fell by 5,021 people and in the Valencian Community (-515).
Of the 142,844 registered unemployed in the agricultural sector, 33,764 people were foreigners (-7.33% compared to August 2018 and -8.54% compared to last July); and of this figure, 14,352 people were from another community country and 19,412 of extra community origin.
In general terms, the number of unemployed increased in August by 54,371 people compared to July, the largest increase in that month since 2010, with a total of 3,065,804 unemployed, after in the last year they have left the unemployment lists 116,264.
Affiliation
The Special Agrarian System (SEA), integrated into the General Social Security Regime, closed August with 703,650 members, representing a decrease of 1.58% (compared to the same month of 2018) and 3.45% in rate monthly.
To these data we must add 75,620 affiliates to the agriculture, livestock, hunting, forestry and fishing sector, also included in the General Regime, with a monthly variation of -2.04% and an annual variation of +7.73%.
In the Special Scheme for Autonomous Workers, the agriculture, livestock, hunting, forestry and fishing sector accounted for 266,169 affiliates in August (-0.24% and -0.03% in their monthly and annual variations, respectively).
The affiliation to the Special Regime of the Sea, meanwhile, reached 69,695 contributors – most of them employed (55,729 employed) – with a monthly rate of +0.10% and annual of +1.18%.
