The Minister defines the Mediterranean Culture as “an example of the commitment of the Government”
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, today attended the launching of the “Mediterranean Culture 2018” campaign, which, for the minister, “is an example of the Government’s commitment to promote a style of healthy living and sustainable development, which helps create wealth and employment “
Also, García Tejerina has stressed that the Mediterranean Diet “is one of the great treasures of Spanish cuisine”, a heritage that links us to our past and that reaches all corners of the world in the present”.
At the same time, the minister stressed that the Mediterranean Diet, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, is a fundamental element of cultural, social, historical and economic heritage, an authentic lifestyle that we share with the peoples of the Mediterranean basin.
In this area, García Tejerina has stressed that the Government is working to promote this diet for its healthy effects, scientifically proven, through the consumption of products such as fruits and vegetables, cereals and olive oil. In addition, the minister has ensured that through the Mediterranean Diet can help protect our environment, as a choice of healthy food is often the option that respects the environment.
Mediterranean culture 2018
Under the motto “Our Mediterranean Diet. The culture that we share “, the Ministry will carry out actions to promote the Mediterranean culture throughout the year.
To this end, various promotional actions are planned for the media, schoolchildren, hospitality and catering, distribution and final consumer professionals, which will be carried out in different cities.
Among other activities, there will be popular races, theme weeks to publicize the benefits of good nutrition, Mediterranean gastrobus visits to different cities to publicize the Mediterranean Diet, and the celebration of the third edition of the national online contest of recipes “mediterraneamos 2018″.
