Spain: official estimates of olive production are fulfilled, with more than 1Mt at the end of January
The official estimates of olive production for the 2017/18 season are fulfilled, with a production of almost 1,050,000 tons at the end of January, according to the new olive oil market bulletin published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment. During the month of January, the provisional figures also show an improvement in the exits in the domestic market and in the export with respect to the previous month, with a total of 113,000 tons.
The total commercialization with 438,600 tons is in below the last season in which there was greater external demand, due to the fall in production in the countries of our environment
Prices continue the downward trend since the beginning of the campaign, as in the other producing countries, with prices above the average of the last campaigns, but below the last campaign.
In the case of the table olives, the harvest was 559,940 tonnes, which represents a decrease of 6% compared to last season
Olive Market
Oil production has so far amounted to 1,047,100 tons. This figure represents a decrease of 4% with respect to last season and with respect to the average of the last four seasons. The milled olive was 5,138,363 tons, with an average yield of 20.38%, one point higher than last season on the same dates.
Imports, with provisional data for the month of January, are estimated at 59,100 tons.
Exports, with data still provisional for the month of January, are estimated at 278,500 tons, with a decrease of 10% compared to the previous season and 5% in relation to the average of the last four seasons
The monthly average of departures in this period has been 69,630 tons.
The apparent domestic market has reached 160,100 tons, an amount that drops by 10% compared to last season and by 14% compared to the average of the previous four seasons. The monthly average of departures of these four months has been 40,030 tons
The total commercialization has reached 438,600 tons, representing a decrease of 10% with respect to the previous season and 8% with respect to the average of the last four. The monthly average of departures in this period was 109,650 tons.
The total volume of stocks is 972,600 tons, which decreases by 1% compared to the average of the previous four seasons. 767,400 tons are stored in the oil mills, which represents a 3% decrease compared to the average of the previous four, in the Olivarero Community Heritage Foundation, 23,300 tons, while in the bottling plants, refineries and operators there are another 181,900 tons.

The 2017/18 table olive season started with stocks on September 1 of 364,490 tonnes, 7% higher than the previous season
The production of this campaign has been 559,940 tons which represents a decrease of 6% compared to last season.
191,060 tonnes, 129,070 tonnes for export and 61,990 tonnes for the internal market have been marketed. The joint marketing has decreased by 4% compared to the previous season.
The stocks at January 31st are quantified at 701,470 tons, which leads to a 1% decrease compared to last season.
