Andalusia harvests 12.3% more citrus, surpassing 2 million t.
Citrus production in Andalusia after the end of the 2016-2017 season has exceeded 2 million tonnes, according to data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development (CAPDER). Specifically, this production amounted to 2,094,274 tonnes, 1.67% more than the estimate made in the first installment of this campaign and 12.3% higher than the harvest of the previous year.
This increase is due in part to the fact that the weather conditions of this spring have favored the production of these fruits and that there have been no problems in the process of transition from flower to fruit (set)
Andalusia, with about 31% of all citrus volume in Spain (6.7 million tonnes), ranks second in the national ranking after the Community of Valencia (3.8 million tonnes).
