The Wine Technological Platform will present its strategic lines of R & D & I at its Annual Meeting in Cambados
Cambados, recently designated European Wine City 2017, has been the venue for the 2017 Annual Meeting of the Wine Technological Platform (PTV), which will take place on May 4th and 5th. An essential event for the wine sector, in which both partners and non-members of the PTV are invited to enjoy a program that will cover technical and recreational activities. All this, in an exceptional scenario, Bodegas Martín Códax. On the occasion of the aforementioned meeting, the PTV Technical Commission will present its 2017-2020 Strategic Innovation Agenda, which includes the main priorities and strategic lines of action for R & D & I for the future of the sector.
The event, sponsored by the Rías Baixas and Bodegas Martín Códax Regulatory Council, also has the collaboration of the Concello de Cambados, ABANCA and the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), and will be structured around the following agenda:
THURSDAY, MAY 4TH
The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, the Xunta de Galicia, the Rías Baixas Regulatory Council and the PTV’s own Presidency will kick off the meeting on Thursday 4th May. At 16.30. the Technical Commission of the PTV, represented by Juan Vázquez (Bodegas Martín Códax), Mireia Torres (Miguel Torres, S.A.), Salvador Guimerá (González-Byass), Alberto Guadarrama (Bodegas Matarromera), Antonio Palacios and Sergi de Lamo (VITEC), will present the new Strategic Wine Innovation Agenda for the period 2017-2020.
The Strategic Agenda for Innovation 2017-2020 includes the main lines of action in R & D & I that must be addressed in the coming years, which will be the basis for the development of future innovation projects
In addition, oenological consultants, Pablo Ossorio and Cristina Mantilla, will provide attendees with a view on market trends and consumption in the wine sector, as well as an assessment of the presence of Galician wines in the world.
The finishing touch to the first day will be “Galicia, cradle of Innovation”, a networking space that seeks to pay particular attention to Galician wine innovation through a tasting of wines from Galician wine cellars partners of the PTV, as well as of the latest scientific advances of the technological centers of the zone
FRIDAY, MAY 5TH
The day of May 5th will begin with the holding of the General Assembly of Members 2017, whose attendance is reserved exclusively to the Members of the PTV and which will take stock of the year 2016 and will set the objectives and strategic actions for the next period 2017-2018. In parallel, and addressed to entities that are not members of the PTV, there will be a Technical Wine Tasting from Martin Códax, from or related to R & D & I Projects on precision viticulture.
From 12.15, attendees to both parallel activities are called to a technical block on future perspectives of two major challenges – and concerns – of the wine sector: sustainability and diseases of wood. headed by Fernando Chivite, Scientific Delegate of the OIV Sustainability Committee, this block will also address the progress of the European WINETWORK project, with INGACAL and FEUGA, as well as the technological advances Biome Makers and Monet Viticulture are developing in both fields .
The closing of the Annual Meeting 2017 will be in charge of Fátima Abal, Mayor of Cambados, and José Martínez, President of Bodegas Martín Códax. Finally, after a cocktail-networking, the attendees to the Meeting will be able to enjoy a guided visit to two wineries of the Salnés Valley: Mar de Frades and Pazo Baión.
