The support of the primary sector allows Salamaq 17 to grow in content and quality
The Salamaq 17th Fair has consolidated its growth thanks to the confidence of the primary sector, growing in content and quality, with 532 unique exhibitors from 35 Spanish provinces of 14 Autonomous Communities, France and Portugal. The Fair, with a budget of 878,800 euros, increases the total occupied area to about 43,700 square meters.
On the occasion of the presentation of Salamaq 17, which includes the Fair of the Agricultural Sector and the 29th International Exhibition of Pure Livestock, the president of the Diputación de Salamanca, Javier Iglesias, has referred to it as “a lively, quality fair superior, which extols the value of the rural as a necessary means of life in our digital society”.
For Iglesias, the 2017 edition of Salamaq “will be strengthened in this prestige of Peninsular Fair and Southern Europe because we will have the highest representatives of the governments of Spain and Portugal in agriculture and livestock”. In particular, the Minister of Agriculture of the Government of Spain, Isabel García Tejerina, will inaugurate the Fair on Wednesday the 6th, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Portugal, Luis Capoulas, will preside over the acts of the Day of Portugal on the 8th; and the Vice-President of the Regional Council of New Aquitaine, Jean Pierre Raynauld, will attend on Saturday 9th on the occasion of New Aquitaine Day; in addition to the presidents of the Provincial Councils of the region, on the 7th, on the occasion of the Day of the Provinces of Castile and Leon.
Salamaq 2017 delves into its two lines of action that differentiates them from other sector fairs, such as the commitment to internationalization through the promotion of the provincial producer sector and innovation as a strategic tool for the development of the provincial primary sector
The third International Meeting of the Agricultural Sector will be attended by six importers from the United Kingdom (Spanish distributor founded 30 years ago by a salmantine, which exports Iberian products and is interested in beef, sheep, wine, sweets, honey…); Belgium (company interested in the garbanzo pedrosillano lentil of La Armuña, chickpea Fuentesaúco); Spain. (Chain supermarkets Aldi, which is interested in salmantinos products of general quality to incorporate in Europe and America); Hong Kong. (company importing the meat sector); Taiwan (which owns its own on-line sales channel and distributes more than 100 supermarkets with gourmet products and also has restaurants serving European and Mediterranean cuisine); China (chain of supermarkets interested in all kinds of salmantinos products).
The Meeting will take place on the 7th in the Circular I Pavilion and there will be a networking and private meetings between the purchasing centers, which are looking for quality products from Salamanca, which will involve about thirty producers from all areas
For its part, the connection with the field of innovation and knowledge, which makes the difference in Salamaq, will again have its space with the University of Salamanca and its Science Park. A space with more activity by increasing the number of technical demonstrations; the presentation of a CIALE project and seven permanent expositions of work related to the field are planned and carried out by various departments and centers of the University.
The collaboration of the IRNASA (Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Salamanca), agrarian research projects, and the presentation of the III Annual Report “The agricultural sector in Castilla y León” of Banco Espana-Duero are stamps that contribute to Salamaq in the professional confidence and of the commercial exhibitors, so that they present in the Fair their new brands of products for the sector or commercial identification.
As general data of the Fair of the Agricultural Sector, Javier Iglesias, indicated that the interest to be in the commercial fair and with a greater expositive quality grows. In this edition, the 25,900 m2 exhibition space is reached through the 213 exhibitors, of which 28 are new.
The machinery, with more than 22,000 m2 occupied by 70 exhibitors, and the Central Pavilion with 67 commercial exhibitors will offer an excellent image of the evolution of the agricultural sector
Protagonism of Pure Livestock
The president of the Diputación de Salamanca, Javier Iglesias, did not hesitate to refer to cattle as “the seductive element of the Fair to attract professionals and the general public. We are proud of these 29 editions of the International Exhibition of Pure Livestock, and we have the firm commitment of the Diputación to bet year after year by the best cattle sample that has Spain and the South of Europe”.
Javier Iglesias thanked “the excellent work of the salmantine farmers, Castilian and Leon and Spain, to bring to Salamanca a cattle that surprises and records, thanks also to the commendable work carried out by the Livestock Associations, which are our strategic partners in this cattle achievement”.
The International Exhibition of Pure Livestock will have 1,675 specimens of 5 species and 42 breeds, contributed by 301 exhibitors livestock. There will also be 18 livestock stands that represent part of those 42 participating breeds
Outside the Exhibition, about 600 specimens will be counted in the sample of Poultry and other species. The bovine cattle consolidates its strength with 1,124 copies of 23 races. For its part, this year returns the interest of sheep farmers with more presence, 378 specimens of 10 breeds, especially merina.
Salamanca is again a reference for National Livestock Competitions, since no event in the Peninsula brings together 6 National Vaccine and Sheep Competitions
On the other hand, the Auctions this year have enrolled initially 212 copies, of which 199 are of 6 breeds of cattle, and 13 of sheep.
Regarding the provenance of Pure Cattle: 11 Autonomous Communities (26 provinces), and France. The 1,124 specimens of cattle are supplied by 223 cattle ranchers (163 are from Castilla y León and from these 82 from Salamanca). In sheep: 378 heads of 10 breeds provided by 41 cattle ranchers. Caprino: 59 specimens, 6 livestock and 4 breeds (new Extremadura). Porcine: 76 specimens, 2 breeds and 7 livestock farmers.
As part of the Fair and as a cattle activity, Javier Iglesias referred to the holding of the meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Livestock Markets Association, which will be held on 8th September and where will be discussed the annual meeting of this association, that will take place next May in Salamanca, involving the Salamanca cattle market apart from around 300 livestock markets (UK, France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy…).
Regarding the Professional Days, Javier Iglesias thanked for another year that there is greater interest by companies, professional organizations and entities to form part of the program of training activities aimed at professionals. There are 30 presentations in which 50 experts will participate, with more than 30 companies organizing and collaborating. The content is more and more varied and current, while incorporating new professional actions featuring trademarks or informational meetings of interest to professionals.
The President of the Diputación concluded the presentation of the Fair Salamaq17 emphasizing that “consolidates its positioning of being the Fair that concentrates and offers everything the agricultural sector needs to be competitive. Hence the gratitude of the Diputación to the sector, the farmers and ranchers for making Salamaq each edition a live Fair, constantly evolving according to their demands. “
