Spanish wine shines in number and quality in Prowein
ICEX Spain Export and Investors has covered some 200 Spanish wineries to show the diversity of the sector in one of the specialized fairs in the world of wine, which was held from 13 to 15 March in the German city of Dusseldorf. Promotion agencies of autonomous communities of Andalusia (EXTENDA), Castilla-La Mancha (IPEX), Extremadura (AVANTE) and Galicia (IGAPE) have coordinated the participation of companies of the region within the Spanish official pavilion.
Born in 1994 Prowein in its last edition brought together nearly 6,000 exhibitors, 24% more than in 2014, and attracted 52,000 professionals from 50 different countries. It is aimed at a professional audience either distributor, retailer and press.
It is the only professional and international trade fair in the world of wine in Germany, which is the third largest importer in value of wine products worldwide behind the United States and the United Kingdom, making it an appointment must present for exporters Spanish.
This is an excellent opportunity for all wineries, both for those with an importer in the German market for firms that do not have partners. both are due to the high level of exhibitors and visitors, covering the latter to retailers and wholesalers in the industry, representatives of the hotel and catering industry, importers and exporters.
Seminars-tasting
During the three days of the fair it has developed a seven-tastings seminars aimed at professionals in the pavilion. These actions have helped to bring visitors to the Spanish pavilion to improve the image and general knowledge of wines from Spain between German and international professionals attending the fair.
In addition, for the second time, and after the success of public of the previous edition, it has expanded the area of free tasting with the 100 best wines of Spain selected the “Best of Spain Top100 @ Prowein 2016” competition, organized with the editorial Meninger, one of the most prestigious in the sector in Germany. The competition has been awarded to 100 wines by ranking and price category all wines that have been presented to it.

The Spanish wine exports to Germany in 2015 reached 384 million euros, representing an increase of 4% over 2014. This figure consolidates Germany as the first destination of exports of Spanish wine ahead of the UK (341 million euros), United States (275 million) and France (249 million euros) .In the 2015, Spain was ranked as fourth international exhibitor country with 534 companies, behind Italy (1,411 companies), France (1.279 ) and Germany (957).
