Spain: MAPAMA and FEBE collaborate to boost the spirits sector
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment collaborates with the Spanish Federation of Spirits drinks to improve the competitiveness of the sector by signing a general protocol of action, which took place on March 1st. The agreement includes actions to promote sustainable growth and the internationalization of the sector, as well as the responsible consumption of these drinks. It also recognizes the opportunity to establish a stable framework for collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the spirits sector.
The general director of the Food Industry, Fernando Burgaz, and the president of the Spanish Federation of Spirits Drinks (FEBE), Pelayo de la Mata, have signed a general Protocol of action for the development of actions aimed at improving competitiveness, the sustainable growth and internationalization of this sector, as well as the responsible consumption of these beverages.
In addition, the agreement recognizes the opportunity to establish a stable framework for collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment and the spirit drinks sector, with the aim of achieving a stable horizon and highlighting the instruments aimed at to strengthen its competitiveness.
This protocol is the continuation of the collaboration framework agreement, signed between the Ministry and FEBE on March 13th, 2013, for the development of various activities promoted by the spirits sector for the optimization of its production, improvement of its competitiveness and of its culture and agricultural roots
With the signing of this agreement, besides promoting the improvement of the competitiveness of the spirit drinks sector, it contributes to guarantee the environmental, social and economic sustainability of the Spanish food industry.
