Spain: Farmers have more time to apply for CAP support

The Ministry of Agriculture extended the deadline until May 15 to apply for aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the 2016 campaign and the Magrama attends to the request of some autonomous regions and sectors concerned.

This, the first in which the new rights already allocated basic payment requested, campaign 2016 has a number of special features. Specifically, last March has closed the final allocation of the new basic payment rights in effect for the period 2015-2020, which has conditioned the presentation of assignments of such rights by farmers.

On the other hand, as stated in the EU and national regulations, the 2016 campaign is compulsory to present the graphical delimitation in digital format agricultural parcels of the holding, the call graphic statement for applicants to declare more than 200 ha.

Both facts are advised to extend the period for submission of applications for aid only to facilitate procedures for farmers and ranchers as well as associates in processing aid.

In the 2015 campaign, the first of the new period of the CAP, the single application showed a total of 843,524 producers who declared 21 million hectares of agricultural land.
