Mexico and Spain, a tandem at the right time
The Aztec country is going through a very sweet moment. Government reforms of Enrique Peña Nieto, during the three years of his term, are guaranteeing that is most attractive to invest. And it reaches 82,700 million dollars of foreign direct investment. Spain is the second largest investor nation in Mexico. Ambassador in the Iberian country welcomes involving “one of the largest economies with the greatest potential for the future”.
Companies from several areas in Mexico are looking for an ally in its expansion strategy. This is one of the conclusions of the informative breakfast organized by Vozpópuli and Executive Forum and sponsored by Ferrovial, which took place at the Palace Hotel in Madrid. There has participated Roberta Lajous, ambassador of Mexico in Spain.
During his speech, Lajous has referred to the importance attached by his country to foreign investment, also offering an overview of Mexico’s economic and political situation and bilateral relations that keep his country and Spain.
Lajous praised the work of President Enrique Peña Nieto in its commitment to policies that ensure economic stability, noting that, among other achievements, “has reached a record high of 82,700 million dollars of foreign direct investment.” For her, Mexico is “one of the economies with the greatest potential for the future”. In this regard, he added that it is expected that by the middle of this century, your country has made progress in the current tenth-fourth to seventh place in the world economy. To achieve this goal, “it is necessary reconstruction work and make it to be a country with fewer social differences.”
Welcome Spanish companies
According to the ambassador, in his three years in office, the president has led a number of reforms at the institutional level, “thereby legitimizing his mandate, because it has touched the bottom of the structure of Mexico to make it more competitive.” In this sense, he was “very optimistic with these reforms” and stressed the importance of ambitious national infrastructure program designed his government to ensure the implementation of public-private projects, which represents 400,000 million investment.
With regard to relations between Mexico and Spain, the Ambassador has revealed that Spain is the second investor in Mexico, behind the United States. As far as bilateral relations are its best with “a maturity that has reached its peak, not only at government level but also in the cultural sphere.” Nevertheless, Lajous has confessed that trade between the two countries does not yet reflect the potential of both, noting that this is an area for improvement.
In reference to the cultural question, it has encouraged that Spain and Mexico, the two largest Spanish-speaking countries, to join together to promote education and certification of Castilian in other countries like China, Brazil or the United States.
The ambassador concluded by recalling that Mexico is a “young and eager to grow faster economy, so we welcome all Spanish companies who come to our country.”
