Makro promotes agriculture with heart
Fernando Alcázar is a producer of only endangered vegetables and fruits, now sighs relieved, because the wholesaler Makro has thrown a hand. You can continue growing thanks to AlmaMakro program, which buys its production to ensure its future.
Fernando smiles immediately when asked about the AlmaMakro project. “It is the illusion that any farmer would have. Is like a child when you give a hug, “says the Spaniard farmer, one of the dozen food producers endangered the wholesaler supported by a program of shared social responsibility,” who cares about helping small producers of quality, where the important thing is they, the soul behind, and to give them a future. Fernando Alcázar inherited his grandfather’s garden on the banks of the Tagus river, one of the most fertile plains of the Community of Madrid. “Strawberry and strawberries of Aranjuez, pink tomato, tomato fat Paton, morunos tomatoes or dwarves Aranjuez, among other vegetables and fruits unique quality now have guaranteed their survival thanks to AlmaMakro” says the farmer. This project was to restore the tradition of gastronomy, taste and smell of the native Spanish products, by supporting small local producers “without whom none of this would be possible,” says Beatriz Garcia Cabredo.

Fernando made direct selling in the plot and now can keep doing it, but markets its products through Makro, done that “gives you a full guarantee and quiet, knowing that everything you produce will be marketed,” he says. The wholesaler has also supported him in preserving fruits and vegetables, as well as the Phytopathological struggle.
To further strengthen the commitment between Makro and local producer, the company provides preferentially products from Alma Makro to the Association of Restaurants and Taverns Centenarian Madrid, which will introduce these products in their letters as seasonality. “Food must have taste, aroma and moving to childhood, stews life, the traditional flavors,” explains Alfonso Delgado, president of the association.
