John Deere continues to lead, despite the delicate global situation of its sector
Last year, the results were excellent for John Deere Ibérica S.A, which in Spain recorded a market growth of 11% and 12% in Portugal, as reported during the presentation of the economic data of this company during 2016, by its director General, Enrique Guillén.
Economic data that show the leadership in professional agriculture of this brand in our country and Portugal, leading the way in technical innovations, management of resources and materialization of projects, precision agriculture and dealer network, according to the general director of John Deere Ibérica, Enrique Guillén.
2016 has therefore been “a good year” for John Deere Ibérica, in the words of its CEO, in terms of leadership and expectations, thanks to its constant commitment to R & D and innovation (note that this company has an exclusive division dedicated to this Area of activity), which has led it to revolutionize in segments such as small tractors, with its series 5R, or compact tractors (5G series).
Another of the strategic lines of this company to differentiate itself from its competitors is Precision Agriculture, highlighting its significant advances in connectivity, with its new MyJobs Connect package and its remote services to its customers’ equipment. Connect operators, guide tasks and tours, make forecasts and remote checks of equipment and, ultimately, ensure the optimization of their agricultural machinery. This is reflected in the many awards and recognitions at the prestigious fairs of the sector such as Agritechnica in Hannover with 13 medals or FIMA with 10 awards, of which 7 correspond to the achievements of the brand in Precision Agriculture, in which John Deere is a pioneer, counting on a division exclusively dedicated to this concept. In this sense, it should be noted that all tractors of more than 160 hp have automatic guidance and connectivity to collect all the information and that in two years this brand has doubled the number of its equipment with automatic guidance, keeping the forecasts growth for 2017.
All this has made it possible for John Deere to remain a leader in tractors for another year, maintaining its market share and primacy as a brand in Spain and Portugal.
During 2016 this company has registered a market growth of 11% in Spain and 12% in Portugal
Special mention deserves the growth of John Deere Ibérica S.A. in special tractors (used for working in vineyards and fruit farms), a very powerful sector characterized by good agricultural income, which increased by 30%.
Within this brand, another sector on the rise is that of tractors above 160 hp, which has exceeded 30% of the market share
It has also gained market share in the segment of harvesters, especially in the high specification, where this brand is a leader.
The satisfaction and response to the needs of its customers is one of the premises of this company, for that reason, John Deere has been reorganizing its dealer network, from 2006 to 2016, to provide a better service and advice, rising to a level superior of professionalism and consolidating “the most prepared network of the agricultural market of Spain and Portugal”.
World numbers
According to the company in a press release, John Deere maintains its worldwide leadership and stability in business, despite the global recession of the agricultural sector and the unstable construction machinery market, which have led to a reduction of its sales and, consequently, of its profits during 2016, which totaled $ 1,524 million, of which 285 were in the last quarter. The slight decrease in sales volumes is expected to reach $ 1.4 billion by 2017.
According to statements contained in the abovementioned note of its president and executive director, Samuel R. Allen, “John Deere has completed another year of success in the face of continued weakness in the global agricultural sector and the construction machinery market. The company has benefited from a skillful execution of our business plans and the disciplined management of costs, as well as the impact of a complete product portfolio. As a result, the company remains well positioned to serve its customers while continuing to invest in quality and innovation, which are designed to drive growth in the future”.
Samuel R. Allen: “John Deere’s sales and earnings in 2016 were some of the best in the last 10 years, a remarkable achievement given the very complicated conditions in which the market has moved”
John Deere President and CEO expressed hope for a future with significant prospects for this company, “which remains in a strong position to carry out its growth plans and attract new customers around the world”. In that sense, he emphasized how “thanks to the commitment of our employees, distributors and suppliers, our plans to help meet the growing world food, housing and infrastructure needs continue. In short, we have confidence in the current direction of the company and we firmly believe that we are on the way to offer added value to our clients and investors in the years to come”.
