INTERPORC celebrates in China the ‘International Week of Spanish Pig’ to promote the Spanish pig and facilitate trade exchanges
The Interprofessional of the Porcino of Capa Blanca (INTERPORC) has organized from May 14 to 18 the program ‘International Spanish Pork Week’ in Shanghai (China), which includes a wide program of activities with a triple objective: to promote the qualities of the products of the Spanish pig in the Asian giant, facilitate commercial exchanges between Spanish companies and Chinese importers and strengthen institutional relations between both countries.
In this ‘International Week of the Spanish pig in China’ INTERPORC has the participation of 21 Spanish pork companies, which accompany a large delegation of the Interprofessional to participate in two important international fairs: the China International Food, Meat and Aquatic Products ( FMA China) and ‘SIAL Shanghai’; maintain institutional meetings with Chinese authorities and the European Commission; or participate in conferences and meetings with importers of the Asian giant.
Thus, within the framework of both fairs, INTERPORC will have its own stand in each of them, where it will develop an extensive program of activities such as daily show cooking with the best Spanish pork or tasting of cured ham, made by a Spanish expert cutter .
Also, and in parallel to the fair ‘SIAL China‘, INTERPORC will hold on the evening-night of Wednesday, May 16, the ‘Spanish Pork Night’, a meeting between important importers and Chinese distributors, Spanish and Chinese authorities and the press specialized, in which you can enjoy flamenco shows, games or tastings of Spanish ham.
China, second largest foreign market with 15% of Spanish exports
The Chinese pig meat market, which Spain began exporting a little over ten years ago, has become in recent years one of the priority destinations for Spanish exports. In fact, in 2017 sales to the Asian country reached 323,682 tons and 509 million euros.
China has thus become the second foreign market for meat and processed by Spanish pigs in both volume and value and Spain is positioned as the second largest exporter to the Asian country, just behind the United States.
Spain is one of the 17 countries worldwide currently authorized to export pig meat to China, which already represents an important opportunity for the Spanish pig sector in a country where the consumption of pig meat will continue to grow in the next years.
