Freshuelva: Dietitians and nutritionists know the Andalusian berries
About fifty of nutritionists and Andalusian dietitians members of the Andalusian Society of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (Sancyd) and the Professional Association of Nutritionists-Dietitians of Andalusia (Codinan) visited several farms and facilities of companies producing berries in which they have seen firsthand how sustainable production of these berries, which result in a healthy and nutritious qualities rich in berries.
This visit is part of the collaboration agreement that Onubense Association of Producers and Exporters of Strawberry (Freshuelva) maintained by the Andalusian Foundation of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND) in order to promote research and other activities that delve into the health and nutrition benefits of Huelva berries.
Dietitians and nutritionists visited in Lucena del Puerto the La Canastita of Agrícola El Bosque, where they could check the spread of the culture of blackberry fruit booming in the province of Huelva, in which the company is a pioneer in production and exports, as showed their owners, Diego and Daniel Velo. Attendees were also able to enjoy the new facilities Agricultural Forest a natural breakfast of berries, can check not only nutritional qualities, but the quality and taste of the products, the result of a careful form of production, more natural and personalized as possible.
The production of strawberry and other berries of the important province of Huelva, raspberry and blueberry was the dietitians and nutritionists met at a farm cooperative Costa de Huelva, where its president, Christopher Picon, explained the details that make it can bring to market a raspberry quality and, almost entirely, is exported to countries like the UK, Germany and France. Finally, the expedition met the selection process, packaging and preparation for sale of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries held at its facilities cooperatives Moguer Cuna de Platero and Grufesa.
Research collaboration
This action is part of the strategy to promote healthy Freshuelva values of red fruits such as differentiation which places it in a privileged position in the market, which served as the starting gun ‘Fresh & Life’ symposium, held in October 2014 within the framework of the agri-food fair fruit Attraction in Madrid, attended by numerous experts who exposed the more than 300 attendees the benefits that entails the use of red fruit, and had its continuity in the First Congress of red fruits, held in Huelva in June 2015.
Through this collaboration agreement, Freshuelva and FAND conducted jointly training programs, research, articles and informative lectures and other academic activities on food properties of berries. In addition, they promote and cooperate in R & D in this area.
The FAND is a foundation that aims, the promotion, realization and development of projects that could be beneficial to society in cultural, social and economic sphere, and all kinds of activities related to research, study and analysis in scientific fields of food, nutrition and health, which, in this case, refer to the red fruits of the province of Huelva in Huelva is a leading producer and Europe.
