Ecuador is the partner country of Fruit Logistica 2020
Within the framework of the main exhibition for the global fruit trade, the Andean country will present Ecuador’s agricultural heritage worldwide, positioning itself as an international and versatile producer of sustainable, fresh and high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables.
Ecuador has been named as the official partner country of FRUIT LOGISTICA 2020 (from February 5 to 7 in Berlin). For Ecuador, being the official partner of this worldwide trade fair represents the perfect opportunity to present your fruit and vegetable export and establish new contacts in both wholesale and retail channels, especially importing companies interested in acquiring various fresh products and high quality.
Between 2014 and 2018, Ecuador exported more than 3.5 billion US dollars in fresh produce, mainly to Russia (18 percent), United States (16 percent), Italy (7 percent), Germany (7 percent), Turkey (5 percent) and China (4 percent). Export volumes increased by 15 percent, from 6.2 million tons in 2014 to 7 million tons in 2018.
During the same period, Ecuador’s main exports included bananas (6 million tons), bananas (212 tons), baby bananas (139 tons), pineapples (81 tons), broccoli (74 tons) and mangoes (60 tons).
In FRUIT LOGISTICA 2020, Ecuador will reach its goal, exposing its diversified production by presenting potential fresh export products such as tree tomatoes, soursop, mortiño (Andean cranberry), pineapples, grapes, papayas, avocados and pitahayas, among other products .
Ecuador was exhibited for the first time at the FRUIT LOGISTICA in 2002. Next year, Ecuador’s participation will be organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries (MPCEIP) and the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (CORPEI), in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders of the private sector.
