John Deere and Michelin again sponsor European Championship of tractor drivers
John Deere and Michelin again sponsor the European Drivers’ Championship to be held in June 2017. Sixteen drivers from across Europe will demonstrate their skills by driving the new 6250R tractor at the Michelin test facility in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Competition is not only a matter of speed, but also the best and most efficient management strategy.
People interested in participating should register at the following link, and they will have to get as many “like” as possible from their social community in the network. The 16 candidates with the most “I like” will be invited to the Michelin technology center and its testing facilities to represent their country in the European Drivers’ Championship.
The test facilities are one of the largest in the world, with 19 test tracks with a total length of 41 km
Eight new John Deere 6250R tractors, equipped with the new CommandPRO joystick will be available to compete. With a maximum power of 300CV, each tractor will be equipped with a 29-ton Joskin trailer with tandem axle and equipped with Michelin tires.
The 16 participants will be the first people in the world to handle the 6250R in real working conditions
At the beginning of the tests, each operator chooses his or her own management strategy and decides which tractor settings are most appropriate, as well as the most appropriate inflation pressures. Contestants must complete a field and road circuit, which must be completed in the shortest possible time, taking into account fuel consumption and possible soil compaction. Finally, each driver will be scored based on their results in the following categories: speed, fuel efficiency, soil compaction and handling ability.
The aim of John Deere in this competition is to demonstrate how operators with good training can increase the productivity of their tractors
The results should demonstrate how an operator can save time and money by making the right decisions with the necessary adjustments in the machine. Tires also play an important role in overall tractor productivity. Depending on the load, speed and inflation pressures, fuel can be saved and both tire pressure and tire wear can be reduced.
