Uruguay prepares meat exports to Argentina
The president of the Union of Exporters of Cattle (UEGP) of Uruguay, Alejandro Dutra, said private industry in that country expect in the first week of March to start work on the assembly of the first exports of cattle beef foot to Argentina.
He explained that the possibilities are open for all categories of cattle, considering the proximity of the countries and actors in particular. “Instead of doing business locally bound for Florida, will do so for the province of Buenos Aires, for example,” Dutra said.
The leader understands that this situation will favor strongly the breeding sector because seen in Argentina that heifers easily traded at more than $ s 800 and that Uruguay is a category that does not have much output for the industry.
For the delegate of the Rural Federation (FR) to the National Meat Institute (INAC), Guillermo Villa, the only way to grow that has the Argentina livestock is increasing tasks and it is a provider of good genetics and Uruguay, which it is also key because of its proximity. For that reason it estimated that in two or three months will have to formalize this type of business.
In Argentina, 93% of the meat produced is destined for domestic consumption. Therefore the only way to grow that has the Argentina livestock is focusing its business towards export of meat and that commitment involves considerably increase job recovering the stock. In this context, Uruguay appears as provider near livestock genetics.
