Agri-food exports between Peru and the Netherlands will be certified electronically
The agri-food exports between Peru and the Netherlands will be certified electronically, after signing the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MINAGRI), through the National Service of Agrarian Health (SENASA) an Operational Agreement for the Exchange of Electronic Certificates, with the Dutch Food Safety Authority (NVWA). Through this initiative, both countries hope to reduce costs and transaction times in exports and imports.
In this way, the use of printed electronic certificates for imports and exports of vegetable products is terminated after two years of uninterrupted work since June 2015, the date on which the first memorandum of understanding between the agencies responsible for agricultural health was signed Of both nations.
“We are giving a new boost to the Peruvian agro-exports, speeding up the procedures so that our products such as mangoes, grapes, avocados, asparagus, blueberries and citrus soon arrive in the Dutch market, main entry point to the whole European Community“, explained the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, José Hernández.
Hernández: “With these measures, which make use of state-of-the-art technology, it is preventing the adulteration or falsification of technical documents, providing security to the commercial loads certified by SENASA”
The ports located in the Netherlands (Holland), constitute the important entrance gate to the countries of the European Union and is the second destination of Peruvian agricultural exports, after the United States. Therefore, under this electronic phytosanitary certification system, Peru is assuring agro-exports with one of its main commercial partners, in sanitary and phytosanitary terms.
According to MINAGRI, following the agreement reached with the Netherlands, the next step is to achieve the issuance of electronic health certificates among the countries that make up the Pacific Alliance: Peru, Chile, Mexico and Colombia
At the same time, Perú works with strategic partners such as USA, China, Spain, Germany, England, Mexico and Colombia.
Electronic certification is a system for the exchange of information on phytosanitary conditions and the safety of agricultural products, a certification which, in a short time, will replace all the certificates issued in the conventional manner.
