Uruguay increases meat exports within the quota 481
Number 481 corresponds share the quota of meat that South American countries to export to the EU market under more optimal conditions (lower tariffs, etc.). Throughout the year 2014/2015 Uruguay has exported within this quota to 11,000 tons of fresh meat within the quota, according to the newspaper The Observer.
Despite this increase, since the Uruguayan meat industry, responsible as Vice President Refrigerator San Jacinto, Gaston Scayola, claim that there are certain types of cuts of beef that are no longer output in the European market and so it has gone habitually export 17 cuts only 5 that are best output are: “those cuts of meat of value share 481 sold a little better than the Hilton, also for the European Union, because it is meat from animals finished on grain” Scayola says.
It also highlights the progress in sales of Uruguayan beef meat being carried out in the United States. The meat for the US market comes from animals raised on pasture, without hormones or antibiotics, seeking a distinction in the US market
According to the president of INAC, Federico Stanham, to the future arrival of meat from Argentina and Brazilian beef to the US market, Uruguayan producers will have to continue strengthening those factors that differentiate them off the meat from these countries.
Stanham is hopeful that the second half of the year will evolve positively for Uruguayan beef keeping demand from China and increasing demand for meat from US to a gradual stop in the supply of Australian beef in the US market.
