The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food participates, together with the FIAB (Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries), in the Speciality and Fine Food Fair that takes place in London (United Kingdom) from September 2 to 4, with a stand of 130 m2, where 27 companies of the sector are welcomed and the quality and variety of our food is announced.
The presence of the Ministry in this Fair is the result of a signed agreement, as part of the functions of the Department, to assist and collaborate with entities and associative companies in the food and beverage sectors, facilitating their participation in national and international fairs and exhibitions .
The signing of agreements, in this case with the sectorial organization FIAB, constituted by fifty sectoral associations that group more than 2,500 companies, is one of the forms of collaboration with the sectorial Organizations and Associations, which allows to expand the presence of Spanish companies in institutional pavilions of the Ministry in Fairs and promotional events of international character, as a strategic activity for the internationalization of the Spanish agri-food sector.
Specialty & Fine Food, which takes place every year in London, is the main gourmet fair of the sector in the country, with more than 700 national and international exhibitors.
In this edition, the fair brings together artisan food producers, with Denomination of Origin and delicatessen, together with the key buyers of retail stores, large chains and the Horeca sector.
A market of opportunities
The United Kingdom was in 2017 the fourth commercial partner for the Spanish A & B industry with exports of 1,955 million euros, only behind France, Italy and Portugal.
In addition, in recent years the evolution of exports has been positive, with growth rates of 7% in the last five years (2012-17). The main Spanish sales are focused on products such as wine, vegetable preserves, olive oil, pork products and sweet products.
In recent years, there has been an important growth of the gourmet segment in the United Kingdom, both in consumption and the presence of products from Spain.
