The International Olive Oil Council has new executive director
Jean-Louis Barjol has already substitute in the International Olive Council (IOC), based in Madrid (Spain). Is the Tunisian Abdellatif Ghedira, former chief of staff of the Ministry of Agriculture of his country, who will be chief executive of the organization since January 1, 2016 until December 31, 2019.
Ghedira a degree in agricultural engineering, water and forest management, also have university graduate degree (DEA) in geography. Born in Monastir, 53 years old, married with two children. He is the current president and CEO of the Board of Tunisian olive oil. He has been chief of staff to Minister of Agriculture of Tunisia and has represented his country as head of the Tunisian delegation to the meetings of the IOC.
The new executive director will be assisted in his duties until 30 April by the present Deputy Director Ammar Asaba; then from that date by two Deputy Directors who shall be appointed on the occasion of the 25th special session of the Council of Members will be held at the IOC headquarters of 7al March 10, 2016.
The International Olive Council is the only international organization in the world dedicated to olive oil and table olives. It was created in Madrid (Spain) in 1959 under the auspices of the United Nations. The Council contributes decisively to the responsible and sustainable development of olive manner and provides a global forum where policies are debated and adopted addresses the challenges that the sector faces.
