For Viveros Hernandorena, one of the key of its business success is its human team. Currently is formed by more than 40 workers, which in periods of campaign there are more than 70 people, it is a young group within the agri-food sector, multidisciplinary, of different nationalities and with gender equality.
From the company’s management and its Human Resources department, led by Antonio López, work every day to achieve a productive team, with optimum performance and quality. “What we are looking for are workers who are committed and involved in carrying out professional and quality work. And this is where our leadership position in the nursery segment lies,” says Antonio López, director of the HR Department.
Three base of productivity
To achieve this productivity and quality, the human resources team works on three foundations: companionship, good working environment and stability.
Viveros Hernandorena encourages teamwork, being aware that every employee has strengths and areas for improvement. This makes it possible to create synergies where the strengths of some are used to mitigate the weaknesses of others. “Our aim is for everyone to be productive individually, but especially to be productive as a team, because achievements are the work of everyone,” says Antonio López.
Relation with the good working environment the aim of the nursery is achieve the maximum happiness of the worker within the company. In this sense, through an Annual Work Satisfaction Survey and the daily contact with the workers, Viveros Hernandorena knows the labour that needs its entire team, and that depends on the vital moment of each one of them. Thus, measures have been implemented at the request of the workers such as an intensive working day in summer, motorized carts for transporting plants, improvements in tools… “We want to be the best labour option for our employees, and therefore, we are an active company in terms of feedback from our workers”.
Finally, the stability wich is linked to a good working environment and is vital for the specialization required for nursery work. “For us it is very important that workers find in Viveros Hernandorena what they need. In this sense, we offer attractive remuneration plans both financially and emotionally, with the possibility of professional development and external training,” explains Antonio López, adding that in the short term they will implement an internal training plan, complementary to the external one, so that technicians with more experience can train new employees or workers from other areas in very specific areas.
In addition, Viveros Hernandorena has different Training Centers and Universities, not only to receive visits from students, but also to host Erasmus programs.
