The General Director of Community Agrarian Policy visits the Valle del Jerte Cooperatives Association
The new Director General of the CAP, Javier Gonzalo, was interested in the complicated situation of the sector in this campaign in a visit in which he toured the new expansion and improvements made in the facilities. He was accompanied by the Chief of the Agroindustrial Incentives Service, Jesús M. Pérez Durán, the Chief of the Agrarian Industrial Promotion Section, Rafael Ayllón Lomas, the president of the AC Valle del Jerte, Emilio Sánchez, and the Association’s technicians.
This campaign is being very complicated by multiple factors, so, in addition to exposing the current situation and the main demands claimed by the sector, there has been talk of the importance of the CAP for its survival.
The new operational program of the OPFH that the Cooperatives Association is developing for the next five years, has been another of the topics addressed during the visit. An operational program is an instrument of the fruit and vegetable sector collected in the Common Single Market Organization (CMO), with which it is intended to provide Fruit and Vegetable Producers Organizations (OPFH) with an element through which to be able to propose different actions: in the farms of the partner farmers, in the base cooperatives and in the own Grouping, that allow to reach the planned objectives. From the Agrupación de Cooperativas, an attempt has been made to inform the authorities of the importance of the success of this plan in order to improve processes and be more competitive in increasingly globalized markets.
The route of the facilities has been focused on the extension of the same and the improvements carried out this year with the funds of agro-industrial incentives and the Operational Program of the OPFH, all of them with funds from the European Union. Among them, the installation of a new optical calibrator has been highlighted, which makes it possible to be more competitive with the markets and provide a better service to partner farmers. They have also observed the expansion of the square meters dedicated to refrigeration and, finally, have been able to learn about the innovative chlorine dioxide installation that allows the Group to be environmentally more sustainable and placed at the forefront in terms of disinfection of water used in the cherry selection process.
From the Agrupación de Cooperativas, the evaluation of this visit has been very positive. Thanks to the same, the top technical and political representatives of the region in the field of agro-industry have been able to see first-hand the efforts that are being made by farmers in the sector cerecero through the cooperative union and the organization of all your value chain.
