The Andalusian Government supports to Ybarra factory to resume its activity after the fire
The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Carmen Ortiz has visited on July 18th, by the Minister of Employment and Social Security, Fátima Báñez, factory Ybarra Group affected by the fire last Saturday, July 16th. During this visit, he has taken to ensure that the Andalusian Government will turn these facilities to resume work and continue to generate employment in Andalusia.
As Carmen Ortiz has said, “after unfortunately we can look positively to the future”, and added that she hopes “these facilities be running again in the shortest possible time with the set of all levels of government support.”
Ortiz has praised the intention of the company to re-build the factory to continue its activity in the Seville town, and has ensured that the regional government will support the “flagship” Grupo Ybarra in this task, so that “this factory rebuild, modernize it and continue to generate employment”. The Minister of Agriculture has moved to the company’s support of the president of the Board, Susana Diaz, and the entire Andalusian government, and has emphasized the willingness of the latter to give support to the company in the different areas of its competence, including labor, both from within the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development (CAPDER), and the Employment, Business and Commerce. Ybarra factory in Dos Hermanas has a staff of 250 workers, more than 80 indirect jobs are added.
The Minister of Agriculture of the Andalusian Government has reiterated the readiness of the Ministry to work in collaboration with the central government and the local council, to the company “benchmark in the industry” remain so in the future.
Campofrio as a reference
At the meeting that Ortiz and Báñez have remained with the company and the mayor of Dos Hermanas, Francisco Toscano, has raised the possibility of following a similar model to that applied in Campofrío, in which a cooperation agreement between central, regional and local administrations with the company has allowed rebuild the factory meat company in Burgos, which was destroyed by fire in 2014, and maintain jobs.
The area affected by the fire factory was dedicated to the processing and packaging of mayonnaise, sauces and oils, and is part of Migasa group, which has a total of eleven facilities throughout the Spanish territory (eight of them located in Andalusia). This business group is among the ten largest companies in the region and is mainly engaged in refining and marketing of olive oil, seed and pomace. Its brands are La Masía, Mueloliva, Ybarra and Rafael Salgado. Migasa template amounts to 670 direct employees and 350 indirect.
