Spain needs 235 million euros of European funds to organizations of fruit and vegetables
The Spanish Government has informed the European Commission about funding requirements for operational programs of the organizations of fruit and vegetables 235 million euros by 2016. Of this, 19.5 million euros related to measures to prevention and management of market crises, which represents 9% of the total.
It is a forecast that is done at the beginning of each annuity based on the operational programs approved by the Autonomous Communities, so the final grant will be approximately 80% -85% of that figure. In 2016 this annuity application planned aid is increased by 3% compared to 2015 and by 9% compared to 2014.
The beneficiaries under these provisions will be 476 producer organizations spread over 15 autonomous regions, including Andalusia, Murcia, Valencia, Catalonia, Extremadura and Aragon.
Spain is the second recipient Member State of the aid with 25% of the European Union, just behind Italy. It notes that in Spain this assistance has followed an upward trend since its inception in 1997.
Scheme in the fruit and vegetable sector
The aid scheme for the fruit and vegetable sector is that producer organizations setting up an operational fund (formed by the support of the European Union and by contributions from the organizations of producers and / or its members) have the ability to access aid for carrying out various measures: improvement of production and marketing infrastructure, improving quality and the environment, research, training and consulting, as well as prevention and management of market crisis, within the framework of the multiannual operational programs.
Thus, producer organizations may receive aid from the European Union 50% of actions (60% in certain cases) funded from said operational fund up to a limit of 4.1% of the value of production marketed by each producer organization, which can be raised to 4.6% for prevention and crisis management.
