Sandia Fashion consolidates its commitment to health by renewing the agreement with the Spanish Heart Foundation
The president of the Spanish Heart Foundation, Carlos Macaya and Jose García Martín, President of Grupo AGF, have renewed the collaboration agreement by which the FEC recognizes Sandía Fashion as a product attached to its Food and Health program (Pasfec).
Martin expressed his satisfaction for giving continuity for the eighth consecutive year to a project that seeks to “improve the nutritional health of the population and serve as a guide to consumers through its distinctive products.”
Likewise, Joaquín Hidalgo, General Coordinator of AGF Group has influenced the commitment that wants to move Sandía Fashion towards the health of consumers. “We want to be perceived not as a brand of watermelon, but as a health brand, and for this reason we strive to be present in the day to day of people, not only through this agreement, but through participation in events sports, in actions such as healthy breakfasts that we celebrate in schools, or from our direct contact with nutritionists. “
“From the FEC we start from the premise that in today’s society, for various issues, it is practically impossible to avoid the consumption of processed products. For this reason, it is increasingly necessary to train in the elements most harmful to health, so that they are limited as much as possible. This work includes information on the content of these elements in the products and their comparison with others that may exist in the market for the consumer to identify them; and the incentive to the companies that produce and market them, so that they investigate in the substitution and minimization of said elements. All this, starting from the freedom of the well-trained and informed consumer to make their choice, “says Dr. Macaya.
Watermelon, besides being a powerful food for hydration -with more than 90% water-, and of low caloric value (only 21 calories per 100 grams) is the leading fruit in Lycopene and Citrulline. In fact, its intense red color is due to lycopene, an antioxidant that is also present in tomatoes, but which in watermelon is 2.5 times higher. For its part, Citrulline is an amino acid that favors the elimination of surplus ammonium ion, from the energetic use of proteins through the urea cycle.
