Let´s falling on consumer habits to increase the value of lamb meat
The Spanish Agrifood Interprofessional Organization sheep and goats (INTEROVIC), through its coordinator, Thomas Rodriguez, highlighted in Brussels (Belgium) the importance to the sheep sector innovation and, in this sense, moved during intervention the importance of acting in consumer habits to achieve increased sales and value of lamb meat. His intervention has been framed in a forum with the most representative associations of the sheep sector in the European Union to discuss the future of the sector.
INTEROVIC, representing the whole Spanish sector has actively participated in the first day of a total of three (the other two will be held the coming months), which met in Brussels with the most representative organizations of sheep and goats from the EU to analyze the situation being experienced by this sector and the most effective to implement to improve their competitiveness and ensure its future.
During the day yesterday, composed of three blocks, the current context of the sector is first analyzed within the EU, then it went on to develop competitive strategies that can benefit the sector and the challenges and opportunities it can bring innovation to the entire value chain.
It was in this block where the Spanish Interprofessional INTEROVIC discussed the modernization of product that has been carried out thanks to the implementation of a plan of I + D + i whose works have made possible new cuts and presentations of lamb meat, easier and simple cooking, that throughout this year are being released throughout Spain to groups of key specifiers such as culinary students as future chefs, and the various guilds of butchers, so they move this innovative and modern image of the final consumer.
INTEROVIC consists in the production: the Agrarian Association of Young Farmers (ASAJA), the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Recriaderos of Sheep Meat (OVICEBO), agro-alimentary of Spain Cooperatives, the Coordinator of Organizations of Farmers and Ranchers (COAG) and the Union of Small Farmers (UPA). And in the industrial / trading part by: the National Association of Meat Industries of Spain (ANICE), the Professional Association of cutting plants and meat companies (APROSA), the Spanish Association of Tanning (ACEXPIEL), the National Association of Cold Storage Meat and cutting (ANAFRIC), the National Association of Meat Industries of sheep and goats (ANICOC), the Spanish Confederation of Retail Meat (CEDECARNE) and agro-food Cooperatives Spain.
