Grufesa already commercializes its first strawberries produced in its nurseries in Ávila
Grufesa, a firm of Moguer (Huelva) producer and marketer of berries, has already started to market its first strawberries produced in its Cabezas de Alambre (Ávila) nurseries, where since last year it has consolidated a productive area with the aim of supplying throughout the year to the markets to respond to their needs and demands.
“For almost three weeks we have been selling strawberries produced in Ávila for the second year in a row, consolidating the pilot project that Grufesa started last year after the good results”, says Carlos Cumbreras, manager of the company, which also has in the Cabezas de Alambre nurseries, more than fifty hectares dedicated to the cultivation of strawberry seedlings for subsequent sowing in the fields of their partners in Moguer.
The varieties produced in Ávila for commercialization, mainly in the national territory, are San Andreas and Portolas, whose production is exceeding expectations in relation to last year’s harvest. “We can say that in this second year of experience we are better at a productive level, since it is a good strawberry, good size, rich and with more production than last year” underlines Carlos Cumbreras, who is confident that the production can be extended maximum possible if the optimal conditions are given and overlap with the start of the campaign of the productive phase in Moguer.
