Fruit Attraction, scenario of the novelties of Val Venosta Apples for this campaign
As usual, the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Cooperatives of the Venosta Valley (VI.P) will attend the Fruit Attraction sector fair, which will take place from 18th to 20th October at the Fairgrounds in Madrid (IFEMA) to show the novelties of the Val Venosta Apples campaign and its commitment to the Spanish market.
In order to publicize its main lines of work, the Association of Fruits and Vegetables Cooperatives of the Venosta Valley will offer an information breakfast on October 19th, in which it will take stock of the campaign and report on the developments in the organization and future actions. In continuous growth and with more than a decade of experience in Spain, Val Venosta Appeles, one of the main European producers of apple, bets to strengthen commercial relations with our country, one of the 50 markets that works around the world.
The Italian collective, which brings together seven cooperatives and more than 1,700 producers, once again shows its support for one of the most important events in the agri-food sector in Europe
The participation of Val Venosta Apples in the ninth edition of the Fruit Attraction is the occasion to strengthen relations with the usual markets of the association and to build new trade routes with visitors, both national and international, who come during those days to the fair.
The booth 10G07, with 64 square meters and located in hall 10, will be the space in which from 18th to 20th October, those responsible for VI.P will communicate the novelties of this campaign and make a balance of the last exercise
The association will take the opportunity to announce the changes in its organizational chart. And Josef Wielander, General Director of VI.P, will participate in this sectoral meeting in which Manzanas Val Venosta will strengthen trade relations with Spain, which accounts for 10% of its international sales.
50% of its production is destined for the Italian market, while the rest is distributed in 50 world markets including the Iberian Peninsula, Germany and Scandinavian Countries, with a growing penetration in the Middle East and Asia
On October 19th, VI.P will hold an informative breakfast with the media to facilitate a balance of the 2016-2017 campaign and advance the keys of the next, which is marked by a widespread reduction of the harvest throughout Europe. The appointment will also detail the marketing strategy of the brand that, following the line of work drawn in recent years, will have actions that will strengthen the links and claim the role of professionals in the sector.
Balance and Outlook for the new year
After the 2016-17 season, Val Venosta Apples, has made a positive balance of this exercise, despite the reduction of 20% of production, due to the adverse climatology that had to face
Once this year’s harvest has begun, the details of the harvest and its forecasts for the 2017-18 season will be announced during the fair, for which it is also estimated that there will also be a significant reduction in the production at European level caused by hail and frost. Climatic conditions that have affected the whole continent and especially countries like Poland, which has been seriously harmed.
Val Venosta Apples has managed to maintain a similar situation to the current campaign, losing about 20% of its total production at the end of April by frost and, unfortunately, about 10% of apples table in August, due to hail that has affected all production in the Südtirol area.
Regarding the price of the apple, since VI.P prefer to wait for the results of the final harvest, but point to the apple may experience a noticeable increase as there will be less product to supply the entire European market.
Despite the difficulties presented by this new exercise, the Spanish market is still among the most ambitious goals of the association, so continue to include Fruit Attraction as one of the appointments inescapable within its calendar and serves to mark the start of the new exercise.

The Val Venosta Fruits and Vegetables Cooperatives Association, VI.P, was founded in 1990 and is made up of seven cooperatives and more than 1,720 producers who grow more than 5,200 hectares in the Venosta Valley, located in the Italian Alps. The line, BIO Val Venosta, has an average harvest that exceeds 25,000 tons and has as main markets Italy and Germany
Val Venosta Apples harvests an average of 350,000 tonnes each season and markets them in 50 international markets including Italy (absorbs 50% of production), Germany, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, North Africa and Middle East in addition to España, which represents approximately 10% of its sales.
