FIAB held its annual General Assembly, in which attendees unanimously chose Mane Calvo as president of the Federation, replacing Pedro Astals, an unanimous decision by the Board of Directors of the Federation at its last meeting May 21.

The appointment of the new president opens the door to a new Federation with a view to various challenges: strengthening the institutional representation at all levels, raising the visibility of the food industry in society and strengthen collaborative ties with the different ministries.

During the Assembly, the outgoing president, Pedro Astals, took stock of his two years in office, which has emphasized the design and development of the strategic framework of the sector, which was presented at the hands of the Prime Minister. In his opinion, this project has shown “responsibility and ambition of the industry for wanting to be the engine of the Spanish economy and economic recovery, with the horizon since 2020”.

For its part, the new president of FIAB, Mané Calvo, who is in turn the Calvo Group CEO since 2006, assumed the succession to the challenge of continuing a sheet of ambitious and competitive route, leading to a federation in which in collaboration with its member associations, all companies, regardless of size, to meet the needs of consumers and customers, while reinforcing trust and society in order to contribute to national development.
