Chilean shelled walnuts may export to the Chinese market
Chinese consumers will already know the benefits of walnuts in shell Chilean. This follows the signing of formalizing access product shape in Beijing, the Agriculture Minister Carlos Furche, and the head of the General Administration of Quality Inspection and Quarantine of the PRC (AQSIQ) , Zhi Shuping, attended by President Chilenut, Juan Luis Vial, and the chairman of Chilean Walnut Comission, Andrés Rodríguez.
To date, they could only enter nuts without shell to a market that is producing but, however, has been gradually preferring Chilean nuts.
In an environment of mutual appreciation and recognition of the good level of relations between the two entities, officials also signed the extension of electronic certification so far only operated for pork and grapes. According to Furche said the Minister, this initiative allows facilitate trade, improve entry clearance and procedures at ports of entry, as well as reduce possible fraud associated with health food certification.
On the occasion, the Minister Furche recalled the tenth anniversary of China-Chile FTA, the first China signed with a country in the world, which he said, “has had an outstanding performance, allowing move decisively towards greater trade between the two countries.”
The Secretary of State reported on some outstanding issues such as nectarines and citrus access to the Chinese market, as well as enabling plants to export poultry and pork, given that the Minister welcomed Shuping good shape and promised to follow up.
The owner of Agriculture of Chile also highlighted recent shipments heifers up to China which has led to a new business among Chilean producers. In this regard, the head of AQSIQ said that while many countries have requested authorization for such items, Chile shares access with no more than 10 countries, which is an explicit recognition of the good health status of our country.
For its part, the director of SAG, Angel Sartori signed the Action Plan of the Convention and Inspection and Quarantine Fresh Fruit 2016 between the two countries, which provides for the application by nectarines to China, a study of the procedure for sending via fruits sea-air with transit through a third country and the definition of a new species for conducting a pest risk analysis for export from Chile to China, among other matters. This plan is the result of a public-private work that determines each year the priorities to follow.
The mission now moves to Seoul, Korea, where the official launch of cherry exports to that market recently -authorized on 7 January 2016 at a ceremony organized by ASOEX will take place.
