Bolivia achieved funding to fight the lack of water

The Andean country is the largest recipient of EU cooperation in Latin America. Now, Bolivia has signed new programs: combating illegal drugs, access to drinking water and improving management of watersheds and reduce water scarcity. The goal is to provide more than 200 000 people access to water and basic sanitation.
Bolivia is the largest recipient of EU cooperation in Latin America, with more than EUR 500 million received in the last 20 years, which has been accompanied by a remarkable record of success.
Recently, the EU and Bolivia have signed three new programs: one to combat illegal drugs (60 million euros) to support the implementation of the Action Plan against drug trafficking and the reduction of coca cultivation in relation to the rights human and social dialogue.
Another project is to increase access to safe drinking water and sanitation in suburban areas, while increasing resilience to the adverse impacts of climate change (12 million euros)
The third program is to improve the management of watersheds and reduce water scarcity, water pollution and flood risks (17 million euros). The goal is to provide more than 200 000 people access to water and basic sanitation.
