AVA-ASAJA and COIAL strengthen their collaboration to promote the development of the Valencian countryside
The Government Board of the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Levante (COIAL) and the executive committee of the Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA-ASAJA) have held a working meeting at the Sinyent agrarian experimentation farm, where they have agreed to close their ties of collaboration to promote the development of the Valencian agricultural system. In this context, COIAL has granted the president of the aforementioned agrarian organization, Cristóbal Aguado, the distinction of Honorary Collegiate, coinciding with the commemoration during this year of the fortieth anniversary of the birth of AVA-ASAJA.
Among the reasons presented by agronomic engineering professionals to pay this recognition to the head of AVA-ASAJA mention “the very outstanding role he has played in favor of agrarian associationism, as well as the fact that he has bet and claimed clearly the need to have agricultural engineers in both the public and private sectors”.
For his part, the president of the agrarian organization says that “for me this distinction is a very special reason for pride since it does not come in vain from a reference entity in the improvement and modernization of the agricultural system and whose objectives include the rigor, efficiency, productivity and cooperation, all of which we share and which are also part of our thinking. In any case, I would like first of all to extend this recognition to all AVA-ASAJA partners for their commitment to agriculture and for the invaluable work they do”.
At the working meeting held by the top officials of both entities, with a view to discussing the possibility of articulating a common discourse before the administrations, were discussed subjects such as land management, standards for impact reporting environmental law, the future law of agricultural structures of the Region of Valencia or improving the efficiency in the use of water resources.
Regarding the future law on structures, both entities agreed on the need for the new legislation to include different formulas and options to increase the size of agricultural structures and that this transformation should be accompanied by the incorporation of the latest technology for hand production of agronomist engineers.
There was also full agreement between COIAL and AVA-ASAJA in pointing out the need to demand more flexible environmental regulation of agricultural and livestock activity in order to be able to adapt to today’s changing production technologies and harmonized with that of the neighboring autonomous communities.
Lastly, land-use planning was once again a meeting point, since both institutions agree on the need to establish a model that addresses the real needs of the rural environment and the agri-food system it supports in order to promote territorial cohesion.
