Argentina: Export data differ
Meat exports from Argentina during the first three months of 2015 have added 28 834 t, 54% more than in 2014. This increase is mainly due to increased demand for meat from China and Israel, according to the National Service of Health and Quality Agrifood Argentina (SENASA). USDA data are different.
Production is no stranger to this data. In fact, the Chamber of Industry Meat Argentina (Ciccra) has recently reported that the production of beef in this country has increased by 6.4% in the month of April, compared to 2014, and it stood at 232,000 tons.
These data contrast with forecasts for world production and trade of meat prepared by the USDA. According to this source, Argentina would be out of the top 10 exporters although just a decade ago monopolized 9.2% of world trade in beef. This ranking would be headed by India with 2.4 million tons of exports forecast in 2015. It is followed by Brazil with just over 2 million, Australia with 1.59 million tons and USA with 1.09 million tons.
