The Argentina Food Bank Network and Monsanto reaffirms its commitment to a well-fed world

For four years Monsanto collaborates with the task at the REDBdA and BdA that integrate through Futures and Monsanto Seed Fund program to develop projects. The aim of this support by the company is to contribute to the effort made by the REDBdA to collaborate daily with the nutrition of 243,793 people thanks to the recovery of millions of kilos of food that were originally destined to become waste.


Following this consolidated through the various activities carried out jointly relationship since 2011, seen the need for moving REDBdA office and since Monsanto had a free space in its facilities, the company offered a place for you to continue its work there and REDBdA accepted. This is important for REDBdA because it provides a good workplace and contributes to institutional support, allowing re-directing funds to pay logistical and operational expenses.
Note that the REDBdA is a founding member of the Global Network of Food Banks (Foodbanking Global Network), an organization of approximately 1,200 food banks in over 30 countries (300 of them are in Latin America) and distributed 500 million tons of food. The recovery of these foods helps to prevent waste generation and emission of greenhouse gases.
Luiz Beling, president of Monsanto Latin America South, said that “in a world where 4 billion tons of food is produced annually reaches only half consumed as every year, at least 2,000 tonnes of food in good state become waste. With this volume, it could alleviate hunger for nearly half of the 842 million people suffering from extreme hunger. That is why Monsanto is a real pride collaborate with Argentina Food Bank Network, as we share a common commitment to a world without hunger and well nourished. ”

The Argentina Food Bank Network (REDBdA) is a private non-profit organization that brings together 17 Food Bank (ADB) in the country and working since 2003 to develop strategic alliances that favor the reduction of hunger and malnutrition , promoting and developing BdA in Argentina. The BdA rescue, traceable and secure manner, food fit for human consumption before they are discarded, in order to store, classify and distribute Community aid agencies. Monsanto is a company that works to provide producers with solutions that allow them to produce more food in a sustainable way.
