Argentina: 0.5% will be reclassified to organic products or covered by quality certificates
The Ministry of Agro-industry of the Republic of Argentina has recently published a resolution in the Official Gazette so that they can access to the refund of 0.5% additional those companies whose products have the status of Organic, with the right to use the Seal “Argentine Food, a Natural Choice”, or have Denomination of Origin, or Geographical Indication.
Currently there are over 100 products in Argentina that have been awarded the label “Argentine Food, a natural choice”, have exported more than 173 thousand tons of organic products and have been recognized seven Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications to date
This incentive is applicable to the export refund system for agricultural and agro-industrial products, complementing the system of refunds programmed by the agro-industrial portfolio in the last month of January. This system modified the Export Reimbursement levels applicable to different Mercosur tariff positions for agricultural and agro-industrial products, implying a tax cost of more than $ 2.6 billion. It is a measure adopted to promote diversification in agro-industrial development, in productive and territorial terms, promoting added value through three axes of action: diversity of the territory strengthening regional economies; conformation of dense productive networks, and increased competitiveness of diversified productions.
As an example of all of the above, from 0% to 3% in the case of honey, olive oil, herbs and tea, or from 3.5% to 4% if it is a fractionated product, and 4.5% to 5% in the case of extracts, essences or concentrates of the latter.
Thus, if the product has some official certificate of quality will have a zero with five (0.5) additional. This will be accredited by the interested party, before the customs service, through the presentation of a certificate issued in the case of organic products by the Directorate of Agro-Food Quality of SENASA and by the presentation of a certificate issued by the Subsecretary of Foods and Drinks of the Secretary of Value Added of the Ministry of Agro-industry, in the case of products that have the Seal “Argentine Food, a Natural Choice”, a Denomination of Origin or a Geographical Indication.
The next and more immediate step will be to implement a system of loading and processing via the web through the system of Distance Processing (TAD), so that the interested parties can make the request to obtain the pertinent supporting documents, entering the page of Ministry of Agro-industry.
