Approved an end to trawling the cuttlefish in Chile

By 45 votes in favor, 3 against and 16 abstentions, has approved the draft agreement to face the crisis of the cuttlefish, and requesting the President Michelle Bachelet to end trawling and order the hand line as the only Art catching squid.

The initiative launched by Deputy PC Daniel Nuñez, adding that it must order the hand line as the only art of catching squid. Also it calls for “urgent motion giving Amending Law of Fisheries and Aquaculture, in order to regulate the capture of cuttlefish.

By 45 votes in favor, 3 against and 16 abstentions, the draft resolution was approved to address the crisis of cuttlefish and requesting the President Michelle Bachelet to end trawling and order the hand line as the only art squid catch.

After the special session of the House of Representatives, Congressman Daniel Nuñez (PC) he said that the cuttlefish is the only recourse left available to artisanal fisheries and which must work with small and medium-sized processing plants.
