ANICE creates a specific working group for large meat companies
The National Association of Meat Industries of Spain (ANICE) has recently created a new business group within its organization, specifically oriented towards the large meat industry. Its objective will be the analysis and channeling of the concerns and initiatives of the largest meat companies. The new Business Group has elected Paulo Soares, CEO of Campofrío for Southern Europe, as president, and Paulino Tello, CEO of Industrias Cárnicas Tello, as vicepresident.
Among the main points identified by the members of this new Working Group as of special importance for the meat industry are:
- Defending the image of the sector. One of the main challenges facing the meat industry, with particular concern about threats and attacks from areas contrary to meat.
- The reformulation of products, demonstrating the proactivity of the sector and commitment to consumers.
- Export support, promoting a unification of administrative competencies that make the Spanish industry more competitive and eliminates inefficiencies in international activity.
- The defense of the denominations of the meat products and the concern for the growth of the products that, without containing meat, take advantage of the prestige and the reputation of meat products.
- Commitment to food safety and marketing of healthy and safe products.
- The modernization of veterinary inspection in slaughterhouses, with the development of a national regulation of inspection auxiliaries, allowing for coherence and homogeneity in the visits of third countries.
- Trade relations in the food chain, promotion of fair trading practices and rejection of sales at a loss.
- To deepen in the sectoral structure (with Interprofessional and other organizations) and in the relationship with the Administrations, to underpin the strength of the sector.
The Large Enterprise Group completes the structure and organization of ANICE, the national association that represents and defends the interests of the Spanish meat industries.
The Association works with the following operational structure, with the aim of improving its effectiveness and identifying its strategic lines to be developed:
