Almería says goodbye to Fruit Logistica exhibiting the strength of its agriculture
It has been three intense days of work, meetings, presentations, contacts …, in the most important agricultural fair in the world, Fruit Logistica 2020, which has been held until Friday at the Messe site in Berlin, Germany. The Provincial Council of Almeria makes a very positive balance of the experience lived this year in the support, defense and promotion that the Institution has exercised in this fair with the objective of strengthening and strengthening the main productive fabric of the Almeria economy.
From February 5 to 7, the Vice President of the Provincial Council, Ángel Escobar, and the Deputy of Agrifood Promotion, Antonio J. Rodríguez, have shown the firm commitment of the Provincial Institution with the Almeria field. Escobar and Rodríguez have attended work meetings, have clothed companies in presentations, established contacts to extend the international network of the gourmet brand ‘Sabores Almería’ …, in short, an activity aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector of the province, the main source of wealth and employment in Almeria, and economic engine of Andalusia.
In this regard, the Vice President of the Provincial Council has indicated that one of the conclusions is found in the finding of the “institutional commitment of Almeria agriculture and that institutions such as the Diputación have to continue working to support our fruit and vegetable sector and agriculture in the province of Almería because this will undoubtedly bring great benefits to the whole population of Almeria. ”
In addition, Ángel Escobar has emphasized the outstanding role that ‘Sabores Almería’ has played in this edition of the Berlin fair. The vice president said that “the work of promotion of‘ Sabores Almería ’has been highly valued, for that determined commitment of the Provincial for Almeria companies and the quality of their food production, companies that have also been present at this event.” Finally, Escobar has concluded that “Diputación will continue with that line of constant support to the most important productive sector that we have, from different fundamental pillars such as support for agricultural infrastructure, farmers and marketing.”
On the other hand, the deputy of Agrifood Promotion has affirmed that “we left very happy with Fruit Logistica, the presence of Diputación and‘ Sabores Almería ’has been very positive. During these days we have been able to verify how the decision to internationalize the brand has been very good. The sensations are unbeatable and are being enthusiastically welcomed by the entrepreneurs. In Berlin we have established contacts that can open the doors of new markets. ”
In the same way, Antonio J. Rodríguez has stressed “quality” as the main claim of Almeria production, “an aspect that is increasingly valued and that is presented as key so that our production continues to triumph in Europe and the rest of the world . The Provincial will be next to the sector so that it continues to grow ”.
The next international event in which the Diputación de Almería will participate through the seal of gastronomic excellence ‘Sabores Almería’ will take place very soon and very close to Berlin. ‘Sabores Almería’ will show its support for the sector, and will work on the dissemination of the brand, in Biofach Nuremberg, which is held in this German city from February 12 to 15, and which is considered as the world reference fair for organic products.
Institutional support
The Provincial Council has shown its commitment to the agricultural sector on numerous occasions. One of these was carried out with the materialization in a plenary of an institutional declaration, approved unanimously, of adhesion and support to Almeria farmers and marketers in the face of the structural crisis of the fruit and vegetable sector and its model.
This statement was articulated as a result of the spirit of dialogue of the Government team and in it the Institution positioned itself next to the sector to curb the difficulties that cause lack of profitability in many farms and solve the problems of image or rural hygiene They are currently suffering, as well as another institutional declaration of support for those affected by the Gloria storm in the province of Almeria, many of them farmers.
Infrastructure Improvement
Another area in which the Diputación acts in favor of agriculture is in the improvement of key infrastructure for the commercialization of production, such as the rural roads of entry and exit to horticultural products that travel from Almería to destinations distributed all over the world.
In this field of action the Provincial Institution has projected an investment of 10.5 million euros for the improvement of agricultural and / or livestock roads for the period 2020-2021 that will be allocated to the 103 municipalities of the province with the financing of funds own of the Delegation.
