Agroseguro will compensate with 12.6 million to Castilla-La Mancha for damages in vinification grapes
Agroseguro will compensate with more than 75 million euros the damages in grapes of vinification caused in all the national territory, mainly by hail and frost, after the estimates of this insurer by this type of sinister. Of this amount, a total of 12.6 million euros will be paid to farmers in the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha, which accounts for 17% of the aid granted at the national level. Payments of compensation for early harvest varieties will commence on 21st September.
The national compensation for damage to wine grapes covers a total area of 108,000 ha.
In this computation, Castilla-La Mancha is one of the Autonomous Communities that will receive major compensation, along with Castile and Leon (25 million euros) and La Rioja (15.3 million euros)
As explained by the director of ACM Specialists in Agrifood Risks, Pedro Leandro Mayorga, “in Castilla-La Mancha we have suffered from this campaign a very atypical climate, marked mainly by drought and sporadic episodes of storms and hail; this has had a very negative influence on the different crops in our region and, therefore, we welcome this news from Agroseguro. ”
It will be next Thursday, September 21st, when payments will begin for the corresponding early harvest varieties. Likewise, Agroseguro is dedicating 176 experts to assess the claims, giving preference to the most affected communities, including Castilla-La Mancha.
The payments, which according to Agroseguro will be speeded up as much as possible, will end in mid-October.
To date, 2,2 million euros have already been paid for hailstones with damages exceeding 80% assessed in a single phase, mainly in the provinces of Albacete and Cuenca
