Agrarian Income rises in 2016 to 25.255M€
The Agrarian Income has grown to € 25.25bn in 2016, an increase of 5.1%, according to the first estimate of the main economic figures provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA).
In addition, the Agrarian Income by Annual Work Unit (UTA) has grown by 3.4%, reaching 30,350 euros, which is a historical record in this indicator for the fourth consecutive year
All these positive results are due to the increase in the Production of the Agrarian Branch with record values of 46,487 million euros and the stable behavior of intermediate consumption.
Vegetable production, with 28.502 million euros, beats record in fruit production values (9.180M €), and pork (2,765M €)
Olive oil stands at 2,867 million euros.
The value increase of olive oil stands out in 61.3%, due to a very important improvement of the harvest of 69.9%
Other crops that reflect increases by crop increases are grains that increase by 5.25% and industrial crops with an increase of 13.4%. Fruits also experienced an increase of 3.8%, with decreases in quantity and price increases.
On the contrary, the price decreases determine the fall in the value of the forage production of 7.5% and of vegetables with a decrease of 9.2%
In terms of animal production, its stability is verified, with a slight increase of 0.3%, based on a 5% increase in the quantities produced, which compensates for the 4.6% decrease in prices. The best performance in value has been the pigs that increased 6%, supported by an increase of the meat produced of 7.3%, while the poultry industry reduces its value compared to 2015, both meat with a fall of 6 , 9% as set, with a reduction of 1.7%.
Intermediate consumption remained stable, with a slight decrease of 0.3%, resulting in a compensation between the increase in the value of feed of 1.4%, with energy and lubricant drops of 7% and fertilizers that fell by one 8.8%. Total subsidies rose by 149.6 million euros compared to 2015.
Upward Trend of Agrarian Income
The analysis of the evolution of Agrarian Income in recent years shows a growth of 8.2% in current prices in the period 2012-2015. In 2016, Agrarian Income surpasses in 13.7% that of 2011, with a Average in the period 2012 – 2016 of 23.602 million euros.
