Agriculture Advisory Council
At the meeting of the Agriculture Advisory Council, held on the same day of the Sectoral Conference, the main issues to be discussed by the Council of Ministers of Agriculture of the European Union, to be held in Brussels on 12th and 13th December, were discussed.
During the meeting, a draft conclusions on the food chain was presented, which aims to harmonize at European level the measures and regulations already in force in some Member States, such as Spain with the Law for the improvement of the functioning of the Food Chain. The aim of this project is to strengthen the role of producers.
As Cabanas explained in this project, which has been discussed in the Agriculture Committee itself, work has been done with the Commission and the Presidency to establish harmonization at Community level for linear practices.
The second item addressed in the Advisory Council has focused on agriculture and climate, with the presentation of two horizontal regulations, affecting the agricultural sector in relation to the emission reduction effort, and the role of the forestry sector in its capacity of absorption of emissions.
On the other hand, Cabanas explained, it has been explained the progress in the Regulation of Ecological Production, on which the Parliament, the Council and the Commission work, and which will be reported to the Council of Ministers in Brussels.
