HORTYFRUTA Assembly re-elected for the third time, Francisco Góngora as president of the Interprofessional
The Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Andalusia, HORTYFRUTA, held this morning its ninth Annual General Assembly which has been approved unanimously re-elect Francisco Góngora Cañizares as president of the Andalusian organization for the third consecutive term. Gongora said that after four years of hard work facing this new period “with the same enthusiasm, commitment and responsibility to the first day.”
During the course of it also it has been defined the composition of the Board, being as follows:
President Francisco Góngora Cañizares, Cooperative Agro-alimentary of Andalusia.
VP: Roque Garcia Simon, Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA).
Secretary: Alfonso Zamora Reinoso, Andalusian Federation of Fruit and Vegetable Traders Company (Ecohal).
Treasurer: Manuel Galdeano Moreno, Association of Organisations of Producers of Fruit and Vegetables of Almería (COEXPHAL).

In the Assembly also it approved the annual project activities the Interprofessional in this period 2015/2016 and will focus primarily on areas that address issues important for horticulture under Andalusian coat.
In this regard, Francisco Gongora stressed inter alia, the steps taken since HORTYFRUTA to promote the creation of HORTIESPAÑA, and this campaign will continue to make “a special effort to get the joint sector, improve its competitiveness and internationalization, and ultimately profitability. ” International-European level will also be addressed, trying to lay the groundwork for what will be the future interprofessional of fruit and vegetables in Europe.
The rural sanitation will be a topic that will work in depth. HORTYFRUTA prepare a technical paper on the current state and seek possible solutions including possible analogies with municipal waste. Besides the Interprofessional recently expressed its willingness to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development to actively participate in the development of agricultural management plan it is being prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment. HORTYFRUTA offered a team of technicians of the companies that are within it to work on developing such a plan.
Although greenhouse crops using very efficient irrigation systems, there is a problem on the issue of water which is no stranger HORTYFRUTA both its limited availability and its cost. In this sense, the Inter has asked the competent authorities any information about the real state of water in aquifers, wells and desalination plants in the provinces of Almeria and Granada, from there to propose solutions.
The proliferation of illegal warehouses in the Andalusian horticultural not pay taxes, do not have phytosanitary register and make the handling of the genre with illegal labor is another concern that members of HORTYFRUTA. The Interprofessional require greater control of such stores to all the authorities involved in this matter
Another line of work will focus on the recovery of the taste of the products HORTYFRUTA coverage for this agricultural season and lead the effort to improve the quality and taste of tomato, melon and watermelon.
The Inter will also continue this campaign with I Love Bugs initiative, Our Green Revolution coordinating and strengthening communication with the producers of the need to further strengthen the use of integrated control.
The Assembly was opened by Rafael Peral Sorroche, Director General of Industry and Food Chain Andalusian who wanted to show the full support of the Government of Andalusia and the team of the Ministry of Agriculture to the Interprofessional HORTYFRUTA. “From the Department we want to help and support in everything that we aa agriculture under coat of Andalusia, but the important thing is that the industry itself is the one that says you need and what you have to work, and to do it together, and the Administration will be always available. ”
Also, Rafael Peral has wanted to make clear the explicit support of the Council to the Inter HORTIESPAÑA, “and so I have made known to the Minister of Agriculture through a letter that we sent, because we believe that the industry must do strong from all areas. ”
Taking advantage of this meeting, HORTYFRUTA Andalusian representative delivered a complete list of illegal stores there now in the provinces of Almeria and Granada, demanding agility in the inspection of these ‘businesses’ that are unfair competition for the rest to meet all legal requirements.
In many of the initiatives promoted HORTYFRUTA we have received the support and reinforcement of the Ministry of Agriculture, we are confident that this support will continue or even intensify.
