APROA Assembly approves new measures for 2016
APROA held on September 11 the General Assembly which has been reported to all representatives of FVPOs’s on the actions implemented on the Prevention and Crisis Management made in this 2015, and are included within the Program Operating from 2014 to 2018. During the course of the Assembly they have also approved new measures for next year 2016, which are in line with what was done in previous annuities.
Organizations Association of Fruit and Vegetables of Andalusia, APROA, has the primary purpose of defending and promoting the interests of its members and the promotion of agricultural associations. In the last campaign, APROA, which has 57 member organizations spread across the provinces of Almeria Producers, Cadiz, Granada, Huelva, Malaga and Sevilla, has registered a turnover of 1,183 million euros; with a production volume of 1,582,120 tons; a production area of 29,873 hectares; and more than 11,000 member farmers, employing 52,000 people.
As for the actions undertaken highlights the Promotion Program for Fruits and Vegetables, Coexplay in different schools. About 1,200 children have enjoyed learning the fun way to eat more fruits and vegetables as well as to bring healthy habits, practicing physical exercise. FVPOs’s who participated in this 2015 have been Andarax Citrus, Nature Choice, Casur, Cabasc, Vicasol, Natural Park, Duniagro, Murgiverde, Ferva, Cohorsan and San Isidro Labrador.
One of the novelties of Coexplay is creating an interactive online game, which is available on the web www.coexplay.es and has designed a Coexplay APP downloadable mobile phones and tablets.
Similarly, the Association, thanks to the withdrawals for free distribution of products belonging to FVPOs’s APROA in various food banks and charitable organizations throughout Spain, has coordinated the delivery of 5,532,390 kilos of fruits and vegetables. The number of OPFH’s that are participating in this initiative within the Operational Programme have been 23 APROA.
By products, tomato with 1,521,849 kilos, followed with 1,390,433 kilos pepper, melon with 637,065 kilos, with 585,605 kilos cucumber, eggplant 356 004, 315 399 kilos zucchini, orange with 408,438 kilos, 310,016 kilos watermelon and green beans with 7,581 kilos.
Thanks to this action within the Operational Programme APROA Partial has been serving 400,000 needy people in our country.
In addition, APROA has developed seminars and courses within the Training Plan Prevention and Crisis Management, included in the Operational Part Program, aimed at presidents, managers and farmers FVPOs’s associates, whose aim has been to design strategies to prevent and deal with market crises.
