Planas analyzes Mercasa’s strategic plan for the next five years
The acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, met Thursday with the president of Mercasa, José Ramón Sempere, with whom he has analyzed the new strategic plan of this company to facilitate the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in the commercial chain of fresh food. The Mercas Network already complies with 15 of the 17 SDGs.
This new Mercasa strategic plan, which has planned actions in the next five years, has already been approved by the shareholders, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the State Company of Industrial Participations (SEPI), on July 26.
The main objective of the plan is to place the company in a modern strategy, with a sustainable future, so that it is viable and decisive for the operation of the food chain in Spain.
Among the concrete actions, the impulse to sustainable logistics stands out, favoring the commercialization of proximity products, minimizing food waste and reinforcing the actions already carried out in the Mercas for the recovery of packaging waste and efficient water management .
