Sherry wines seek a new image
The Control Board of the Designation of Origin (CRDO) of Sherry and Manzanilla are looking for new label for bottles used in all generic promotion activities in an effort to renew the image of these very genuine wines. For this purpose, the CRDO has launched a label design contest to update its image through “Design Crowd”, a web services platform global design online.
As it is noted from the Regulatory Council, “this initiative is a commitment to creativity of new talents with the aim of finding what will be the new image of Sherry wines and Manzanilla”. And it has opened the deadline for submission of proposals, which will have a deadline on July 15, 2016.
The Regulatory Council wants to provide a new image to the wines used in its generic promotion activities and comprising the most important types of the region: fino, manzanilla, amontillado, oloroso, palo cortado, pale cream, medium, cream, Pedro Ximenez and muscatel. Therefore, 10 new tags are required, one for each of said wines. Competition Wine Label Design is targeted professional designers and amateurs, students of the Higher Schools of Design as well as all those who want to participate.
The work may be done with any design program and must comply with the measure of black colored bottles 75 cl (height 305 mm x 76.20 mm diameter base x shoulder diameter 82 mm). The theme is free but there will also respect the provision of the logos included in the briefing. Those interested can consult the complete contest rules and ways of shipping on the next page.
The jury responsible for selecting the deserving work of the new image of generic Sherry wines will be composed of both members of the communications department of the Regulatory Council and by professionals from different areas of design.
The winner will be announced during Harvest Festival de Jerez de la Frontera, to be held in September. The prize is worth 1,000 euros, a diploma and a batch of the DO. The presentation of the new bottling will take place during the International Sherry Week, the biggest global celebration around the wines of Jerez, the celebration will be from 7 to 13 November 2016. Therefore it is a work whose impact not only covers the domestic market but also have international distribution.
