Alicia Garcia Pardo, a cattle Madrid 38 years has won the “Best Young Sustainable” award in a final to projects that have come from 14 EU countries.
As happened in previous editions, a Spanish candidate has become a mess at the end of these European awards. In this edition the absolute Award 2016, BEST PRYECT, went ex aequo to the representatives of Bulgaria, with a project management hives, and Greece, which has introduced a system for collecting olives based on brushing. In the category of “Best Farmer Innovator” the winner was Portugal, with a draft seedless grapes and grapes of different flavors. Finally, in the category of “Best Sustainable Agriculture”, Spain has achieved distinction with a cattle project production and marketing of mare’s milk.
Alicia Pardo, livestock Soto del Real (Madrid), is a young graduate in Economics and Master MBA from the Institute of Company decided in 2009 to reconvert a horse farm for breeding mules in an innovative project pioneer and profitable: the first ecological horse breeding of Spain milking his mares. Obtained all permits and licenses, manufactures and markets since 2011, with its brand EcoLactis, organic freeze-dried mare milk and other products such as food supplements, soaps and cosmetics.
As she explains, “we have 22 mares and an average of 1.5 -2 liters a day are milked, for no more than five months, ie milked annually 5,500 liters of mare’s milk. So far we are still the only producers of mare’s milk legalized in Spain, which also are certified as organic and do all the process until the completion of the final product in our country. ” Now his challenge is to open a gap not only among Spanish consumers, but also in the Chinese market, where it has already sent a first batch of its products.
Remember that Alicia Pardo was chosen to represent Spain in this competition after winning the National Young Farmers Contest organized by ASAJA and whose awards were presented by the Minister of Agriculture on 29 March. And Alicia have traveled to Brussels the other two farmers who were awarded in Madrid, Mario Esteban Correal, Avila, and Higinio Gutierrez Ramirez de Toledo.
