Planasa, for the second consecutive year, in the ranking of the 1,000 companies that inspire Europe’s economic development
The London Stock Exchange Group (owner of the London Stock Exchange) has once again recognized Planasa, the European leader in the fruit and vegetable sector, as one of ‘The 1000 Companies Who Inspire Europe’. This report recognizes companies that bill between 20 and 300 million euros and stand out for their ability to generate employment and for maintaining a steady growth in recent years.
In this second edition of the report, the London Stock Exchange has once again highlighted Planasa for its excellent track record in recent years, in which it has grown steadily both in turnover and in the number of workers.
Planasa, which currently operates on five continents, has been designated by the London Stock Exchange as a reference company for potential investors
According to Alexandre Pierron-Daborne, president of this business group, “if last year it was a pride to join this list, to do so for the second consecutive year confirms that we are on the right track and that this was no accident. We are an international company, but obviously in Europe lies a large part of our business. Our intention is to continue walking towards our goal, which is none other than improving tomorrow’s diet. ”
The document of 2017 reveals once again the enormous importance of SMEs in the continent, accounting for two-thirds of total employment and around 60% of the value of the economy.
Pierron-Darbonne: “our value arises through a direct approach towards bringing well-being to society and innovating to achieve it. In Planasa annually we invest around 4% of our turnover to continue offering better products and services”
Thanks to this business philosophy, Planasa is among the ten Spanish companies that repeat their presence in this report. In total, this year 2017 includes 70 national companies, for 75 last year. The food and beverage sector continues to be the most prominent.
Planasa has been working in the horticulture sector for more than 40 years, through three business areas: varietal innovation (with berries, fruit and horticultural programs), supply of vegetable material to farmers and agri-food (production and marketing of fresh produce).
This company is currently the world leader in endives commercialization and leader in obtaining and improving products (varieties of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry)
In 2016, Planasa had over 2,080 direct employees and a turnover of 106.1 million euros.
