Yara iberian starts 2017 with Elena Montero as new general manager for Spain and Portugal
Starting on January 1st, 2017, Elena Montero will be appointed as the new general director of Yara Iberian, replacing Mónica Andrés, who will lead the Business Unit Asia within the Yara International team.
Elena Montero holds a degree in Economics, specializing in Quantitative Analysis, from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and subsequently completed a Master’s Degree in Financial Management and Control at the IE Business School (Madrid). She is part of the Yara Iberian team since 2000, where she has headed the financial department for the last ten years.
In her new position as General Manager, Montero will lead the challenge of consolidating the ambitious growth objectives of the company and continue to make Yara a benchmark in Spain and Portugal
Her training, experience and in-depth knowledge of the business, the distribution network and the needs of the farmers, acquired throughout her long career, support her as the ideal person to address this new responsibility.
Mónica Andrés, new Business Unit Manager for Asia
Elena Montero relays in the direction of Yara Iberian to Monica Andrés that will happen to direct the Business Unit Asia, within the equipment of Yara International.
Mónica joined Yara’s team in 1998 where she started as a regional delegate. During her career she has also gone through several key positions in the department of sales of products for extensive crops or the provisioning of special products, until becoming General Manager of the subsidiary in Spain and Portugal in 2013.
With the appointment of Mónica it becomes clear once again that the Iberian subsidiary of Yara has established itself as a talent platform, as well as the importance of the Spanish market for the Norwegian multinational. Three of the current Business Unit Managers – Asia, Africa and Latin America – from Yara International as well as the global director of the agriculture segment, Terje Knutsen, have been the general management of Yara in Iberia in recent years.
