The qualities of Granada de Mollar reach Fruit Logística

In addition, the PDO, which has its own stand within the grouped participation of the Generalitat Valenciana (hall 11.2), is focusing its promotion on the differentiated quality of the Elche mollar grenade compared to the rest of the market’s grenades.
The objective is, in the words of the president of the PDO; Francisco Oliva, “that foreign customers know the unique qualities of this variety, the guarantees it offers and that all this serves as a stimulus to increase international sales.”
In this sense, visitors are asked to look a little beyond their external appearance and to look at the characteristics that make the difference such as their sweet taste, soft seed, size and conservation status as well as their quality. certified with the seal of the Denomination of Origin.
The president of the Protected Designation of Origin of Granada Mollar de Elche points out that “from the Regulatory Council we are aware that one of the inconveniences we have in the international market is the external appearance of the Elche mollar because it is less red than others varieties but, however, as soon as customers taste our pomegranate they are amazed and that is where we have to influence ”.
“The showcase offered by the Berlin fair is a perfect opportunity to win that first impression and have a direct contact with customers that allows us to make our characteristics known and offer them a tasting of Elche mollar pomegranate so that they realize who are facing the best grenade in the world. “
From there, Oliva continues, “we also inform you of other competitive advantages that we have, such as the various quality controls that this variety has to pass to be certified as a PDO and the commercial guarantee that this implies, as well as its size or condition. of conservation that is much better than that of other varieties and that is a key factor when exporting ”.
Regarding markets, the president of the PDO points out that his main objective is Europe but that does not mean giving up other markets that are also interesting for us.
Francisco Oliva says that “the PDO has hope and hope that it is a good contest for the Elche mollar grenade, that commercial contacts of interest are established and that all this translates into a benefit for the sector for the next campaign”, concludes the president of the PDO.
